About RFM

Rural Funds Management Limited (RFM) is one of the oldest and most experienced agricultural fund managers in Australia.

Established in 1997, RFM is the responsible entity for seven agricultural investment funds and as at December 2016 had approximately $608m of assets under management across New South Wales (NSW), Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

RFM’s largest fund under management, the Rural Funds Group (RFF) is an ASX listed real estate investment trust. RFF owns a $550m portfolio of quality, diversified agricultural assets including almond and macadamia orchards, commercial scale poultry farms, premium vineyards, water entitlements, cattle and cotton assets, all of which are leased to quality tenants.

Operating from a head office in Canberra, and offices in Sydney, regional NSW and Queensland, RFM employs more than 85 staff in fund and asset management activities.

Our Board and Management have relevant knowledge and experience in the sectors in which the funds are invested, gained through managing and developing assets including water, poultry, almonds, macadamias, viticulture, cotton, rural infrastructure, cattle properties and livestock over a 20 year history.

RFM is responsible for strategic direction and day to day management of each of the Funds, including the timing of asset acquisitions and sales, investment structure and portfolio composition. RFM is paid a management fee for provision of these services.

The RFM management team has significant experience in the Australian agricultural sector. This experience includes the management of a number of large farm developments from initial planning (including obtaining development approvals) through to completion and operation.

RFM's current program includes working with RFF lessee, Olam Orchards Australia, to establish 2,500 ha of almond orchards, bringing RFF’s total almond orchard size to 4,900 hectares.  Additionally, RFM, as manager of Cotton JV, is currently developing 640 ha of irrigated cotton cropping area in central Queensland. RFM has also overseen the acquisition or development of 660 hectares of wine grapes, the construction of large-scale poultry growing facilities now producing over 30 million birds per annum and the management of 11,000 head of cattle across 250,000 ha. The depth and breadth of operational expertise within RFM management contributes significantly to the integrity of the decision-making process.
